Automating Process Development

Process development typically occurs in several stages including process research and development, process optimisation, reaction calorimetry, thermal analysis and scale up to pilot plant.  The FlexySys control system has tools for each of these stages, all controlled by the same simple to use software.

The FlexySys software offers the following advantages:

  • Controls up to 6 devices from 1 PC
  • Real time data acquisition
  • Manual mode for direct control
  • Recipe mode
  • Automatically generated report and data file
  • SysGraph tool for off-line analysis

Using the same software for each control system reduces initial start up costs, maintenance and training costs and means a user familiar with one system can easily transition to another.

Parallel Processing

The FlexyLab system allows the control of up to 6 reactors using a single heater/chiller, 250ml is the standard volume, but versions are available from 100ml to 450ml.  Standard system includes control of individual reactor temperature, stirrer speed, 2 liquid additions.  There are many options including pressure vessels, pH control, calorimetry, etc.

Process Optimisation

The FlexyALR system allows the use of a wide range of vessels from simple glass jacketed vessels, through pressure vessels to pilot plant vessels.  A complete system can be supplied or merely the control system for existing reactors and equipment.  Up to 6 reactors can be controlled from 1 PC, however for independent temperature control a heater/chiller will be required for each vessel.

Process Scale Up

Larger volumes are often required for testing physical properties of substances under investigation.  The FlexyScaleUp allows vessels of 1.3 litre or 3 litre volumes to be used in conjunction with the FlexyLab system.

Reaction Calorimetry

Our range of reaction calorimeters are now available in three versions, Eco, Base and Pro.  Using the same control software as the Flexy systems, but with the addition of Kalograph software for calorimetric analysis, these calorimeters can offer Heat Flow calorimetry or Heat Flow and Heat Balance calorimetry both isothermal and non-isothermal.

Pilot Plant

As well as all these standard products we can provide a complete automated pilot plant to the 100 litre scale with all steps controlled by our recipe editor, if required.
